This center was established as the "Utsunomiya Campus Regional Revitalization Research Center" on November 1, 2015, and was converted into a university-wide center as the "Teikyo University Research Center for Regional Revitalization" in April 2017.
The Teikyo University Research Center for Regional Revitalization was established on the Utsunomiya Campus of our university in November 2015. The purpose of this center is to carry out research that contributes to the revitalization of the local economy. To that end, we would like to deepen exchanges and cooperate with various actors that support the local community.
The Center's activities are two sides of the same coin: Faculty of Economics Department of Regional Economics, Graduate School of Economics, established in April 2011, and Graduate School Division of Regional Economics and Policy established in April 2016. Based on School Philosophy and Educational Philosophy of our university, these two educational organizations aim to develop human resources who have the ability to contribute to the community, creativity, and a rich sense of humanity.
The Center has held various symposiums in cooperation with local communities. The themes were "Regional Revitalization and Tochigi's Challenge" (2015), "Emergent Regional Development and Countering Global Warming" (2016), "Tochigi Doing its Best in Agriculture" (2017), "Current Status of Industrial Accumulation in Tochigi Prefecture". and the future” (2019). I have been on hiatus since 2020 due to the new coronavirus, but I would like to return when the situation settles down. In addition, the annual Teikyo University Research Center for Regional Revitalization is published every year, in which research papers on regional society by center researchers and faculty members of the Department of Regional Economics published, as well as reports on fieldwork conducted by seminars in the department. increase.
The Center will continue to contribute to the revitalization of the region in cooperation with not only faculty and staff, but also with various actors in the local community.

In addition to activities unique to the center and the university, this center also supports Community Engagement activities and research conducted by faculty and staff at each campus, and disseminates them in the form of news and annual reports.
At the same time as the establishment of the center, joint research and research with two shopping streets in the Orion Street district of Utsunomiya City (Utsunomiya Orion Street Shopping Street Promotion Association and Orion Street Magashi-cho Commercial Cooperative Association), which is the best downtown area in Tochigi Prefecture. At the same time as the press release announcing the establishment of the Center, a ceremony was held to conclude the ``Mutual Cooperation Agreement Concerning Investigative Research on Central City Revitalization''.
Based on this agreement, joint surveys and research were carried out with the shopping district led by Professor Mitsuo Yamakawa of the Department of Regional Economics.
Our Utsunomiya Campus and Bunsei University of Arts, which are both located in Utsunomiya City and are relatively close to each other, have signed an agreement to promote cooperation and exchange in education and research. It has the potential to promote the Utsunomiya Campus, which has departments in science and technology, medicine, and economics, and the Bunsei University of Arts, which has art departments.
Triggered by this agreement, new educational and research activities have started, such as the implementation of joint research (digital manga, etc.) between science and technology and the arts, and the involvement of both universities in the management of the center.
Utsunomiya Campus circle "Teikyo Utsunomiya Town Planning Research Group" and bus operator "Kanto Jidosha Co., Ltd." headquartered in Utsunomiya continue to exchange opinions triggered by Utsunomiya City "Proposal for Town Development by University Students" project. As part of this, a workshop was held on campus, cosponsored by the Town Planning Research Group and Center. A wide range of opinions were exchanged not only on commuting to and from the university, but also on the use of public transportation from a broad perspective.
From this year, the center has participated as a co-sponsor in the Department of Regional Economics symposium held at the Utsunomiya Campus every year. With the theme of "Emergent Regional Development and De-Global Warming", the event ended on a high note. The contents of this symposium are published in the Report Section of the Annual Report of the Research Center for Regional Revitalization.
We publish annual reports regularly to disseminate the activities of the Regional Revitalization Research Center and faculty members.
