Utsunomiya CampusFaculty of Science and Engineering Student's Bold Design Wins JSDE Journal Cover Contest

On Tuesday, January 9, 2024, Tenchi Tanabe (Faculty of Science and Engineering, 4th year) won the Excellence Award in the Japan Society of Design Engineering (JSDE) Journal Cover Design Contest.
This contest called for original 3D CG designs representing JSDE (Japan Society of Design Engineering) with pink tones. The contest was held at the University of Tokyo.
Ms. Tanabe, a member of the Iku Mitsuhashi Laboratory (UX/XR Laboratory) at the university's Faculty of Science and Engineering Department of Mechanical and Precision Systems, has long been interested in web design, and her advisor recommended her to enter the competition. The concept of Ms. Tanabe's design was to create a stylish expression of engineering by using three-dimensional modeling with streamlining as the main theme, and to create an eye-catching and impactful cover design by using a color scheme with contrasting pink and monotone colors on the screen. The cover design was created based on the concept.
