Finding out about the movement and structures of the economy and predicting changes also constitutes a decision on our future way of living. We aim to nurture students with strengths not only when it comes to theory, but also when it comes to economics as a living field of practical learning.
We have deployed a large number of faculty members with proven track records in the field at companies and in government to develop classes which closely reflect the current social and economic situations. While drawing out the students’ own desires to learn, we are going about helping them cultivate specialized knowledge and problem-solving abilities so that we end up nurturing economics experts able to play an active role at the forefront of society.
We have a rich learning environment, including Teikyo University Media Library Center, which boasts a collection of over 850,000 books. In addition, we provide detailed support for student life, from improving academic ability, acquiring credits, and choosing a career path to daily life, through individual guidance and consultation for each student.
Most of the seminars in the Faculty of Economics are seminars which emphasize practical learning based on the themes of the current state of the Japanese economy and the actual state of corporate management. In addition to specialized knowledge of economics, students will cultivate creativity, presentation abilities, and leadership skills, and acquire the solid strength they need to flourish as a member of society.
Practical Learning-Based Education Provided by Teaching Staff With Corporate Experience
We have a large number of faculty members with an abundance of practical experience and who have been active in the front lines of various fields as part of companies, government offices, the media, and more. Their experience cultivated in the field when it comes to business and governmental administration, together with living information, are directly leveraged in the providing of instruction to students, allowing them to hone their creative skills and their sense of competition.
We have achieved high levels of teaching effectiveness through special programs such as the ECCP (The Faculty of Economics Career Challenge Program) and Five-year Integrated Undergraduate and Master's Program.
Each department in the Faculty of Economics provides qualifications and certifications required in the field of business such as bookkeeping tests, qualifications for travel industry handling managers, and TOEIC?. Also provided are education-related qualifications such as teaching licenses and librarian qualifications. These are provided to students so that they can plan for the careers they are looking to build after graduation.
Takeing advantage of the 4 years of studying economics in form of “Practical learning,” many of our graduates are now active in a variety of business fields.
Department of Economics Faculty of Economics Department of International Economy offers a short-term study abroad program of two weeks in the second semester of 1st year, and a long-term study abroad program of about six months in the second semester of 2nd year, with the study abroad destinations mainly being in Asia, such as Thailand and Vietnam. It is also distinctive in that students acquire language skills that will be useful for living and doing business in that location, and the aim of studying abroad is to learn English from a country different from their own and to become aware of a new world.
