Study pharmacy in depth with
state-of-the-art facilities and cutting-edge research
We offer a four-year doctoral education and research program established on top of the six-year pharmaceutical education system, with the main objective of training pharmacists and university faculty members with solid research and teaching skills who can act as leaders in the clinical field. There are two courses: the Clinical Pharmacy Course, which aims to train pharmacists, and the Pharmacy Course, which aims to train university faculty members.
In order to meet society's demand for increasingly diverse and specialized pharmacists, we aim to promote the development of problem-solving abilities and minds for research, thereby fostering highly professional pharmacists and training excellent educators and researchers.
Teikyo University Graduate School of Pharmaceutical Sciences has published the results of a self-inspection and evaluation of the 4-year doctoral program based on the Proposal for Self-inspection and Evaluation of the Status of Research and Education of the New Four-year Doctoral Program System.
The Graduate School of Pharmaceutical Sciences is a four-year doctoral program for the Division of Pharmaceutical Sciences, which has been established as an extension to the six-year education program of the Faculty of Pharmaceutical Sciences. At this graduate school, students are given the opportunity to further build upon the knowledge and experience they gained in their undergraduate education with the aim of training human resources who (1) have advanced research and educational abilities and will become leaders in drug treatment in clinical settings, and (2) possess the knowledge and skills essential for the development of pharmacy and who can play a leadership role in areas other than clinical practice, such as university education, pharmaceutical administration, or in the pharmaceutical industry.
In order to train human resources corresponding to (1) and (2), we offer two courses, a clinical pharmacy course and a pharmacy course. For the former, pharmacist qualifications are required for admission, and after admission, practical training will be held for one year at the pharmacy department of the School of Medicine Hospital. The latter does not necessarily require pharmacist qualifications if the student has an understanding and interest in medicine and pharmacy, and human resources with solid foundational abilities in a wide range of pharmacy fields are accepted. In both courses, students are assigned to the laboratory, conduct special research on pharmacy subjects under the supervision of an academic advisor, and write a dissertation. Through these experiences, we promote the development of problem-solving abilities and a mindset for research, and train independent researchers [doctors (of pharmacy)] who have acquired high research abilities and specialized knowledge and skills.
