On Wednesday, June 19, 2024, a presentation was held at Teikyo University's Hachioji Campus to report on the results of the overseas sports management training program, which was conducted in collaboration with Borussia Dortmund (BVB), with whom our university has a regional partnership agreement. The participating students received follow-up training in April prior to the presentation, and received guidance on the presentation of their fieldwork research from our faculty and Mr. Tomohiro Nishiwaki of SPORTFIVE, BVB's distributor in Japan. Mr. Nishiwaki expressed his expectations for the students, saying, "What they learned at BVB was well organized, and the results of their research were convincing."
At the presentation session, each group reported on the theme of "BVB's internationalization and management strategy," based on the field research that the students conducted independently during the training, and compared it with the internationalization and management strategy of Bayer Leverkusen, a soccer team that they visited at the same time. The participating students also had the opportunity to interact with local German citizens through street interviews. Students who listened to the presentations at the presentation session shared their impressions, saying, "Until now, I've only ever watched soccer, but this presentation has made me interested in sports business, such as off-the-pitch management strategies," "The presentation session was very informative. It has motivated me to learn more about the differences between overseas leagues and the J.League," and "I knew about the BVB training program before I entered university, and listening to this presentation made me very interested and I want to go."
Our university will continue to enrich and improve the content of the overseas sports management training program so that even more students can participate in it, and create opportunities to learn about sports business through practical experience.
