March 18, 2023 - Teikyo University's Hachioji Campus hosted the second session of "Sakidori! New Student Orientation" for incoming students, with a total of 285 participants. The event, organized by multiple student groups on the Hachioji Campus, aimed to address questions and concerns of incoming students and provide support for a fulfilling academic journey. This orientation was conducted separately from the standard post-enrollment guidance. During the orientation, attendees were briefed on the Hachioji Campus overview, annual schedules, as well as clubs and circles available on campus. Following this, senior students shared their experiences, offering insights on what preparations would be beneficial prior to enrollment, tips for independent housing searches, and advice on student life from a student's perspective.
Engaging group activities, including self-introductions and a "finding common ground game," were facilitated by both student staff and incoming students. Initially, there was a palpable sense of nervousness among the incoming students, but as the session progressed, participants visibly warmed up to one another. Subsequently, guided by student staff, each group embarked on a campus tour, providing a firsthand look at the facilities to be utilized post-enrollment. This was followed by a culinary experience at the Sora-tio Kitchen, allowing students to sample the campus dining offerings. The event created a conducive environment for meaningful interactions, with incoming students engaging in lively discussions amongst themselves and directing queries to the student staff.
