In recognition of their presentation at The Association for Research in Vision and Ophthalmology (ARVO) held in Seattle, USA, May 4-9, 2024, Teikyo University Faculty of Medical Technology Department of Orthoptics Associate Professor Masakazu Hirota and Assistant Professor Ryusei Takikawa received the Japanese Society for Low Vision and Strabismus International Young Scientists The Japanese Society for Low Vision and Strabismus has been recognized by the The Japanese Society for Amblyopia and Strabismus was founded in 1964 as the Japanese Society for Amblyopia and Strabismus Research and renamed the Japanese Society for Amblyopia and Strabismus in 1978. Since then, the society has aimed to develop clinical and basic research on visual acuity and binocular function disorders and to provide information based on medical evidence to the public.

At ARVO, Hirota Associate Professor presented "Accommodative response while viewing augmented reality images in real settings using Maxiwellian display" and Takigawa Assistant Professor presented "Effect of Aniseikonia on Visual Fatigue Using Head Mounted Display for Virtual Reality", and Hirota Associate Professor 's research results were also selected as a Hot Topic, which is the top 3-5% of the approximately 7,000 ARVO abstracts that are highly rated by the judges. The results of this research were also highly evaluated internationally. These special awards support presentations at domestic and international conferences with the aim of fostering young researchers who will contribute to the development of amblyopia strabismus research, and we look forward to the continued success of Hirota Associate Professor and Takigawa Assistant Professor who received these awards.
