On Monday, July 8, 2024, the Teikyo Teikyo Technology Transfer Center held a ceremony to award the title of a university-based venture company at the Teikyo University Itabashi Campus, and presented the third title to Yusuke Takayama, Senior Assistant Professor in the Emergency Medical Technician Course in the Department of Department of Sport and Medical Science Faculty of Medical Technology and representative director of Clossries Inc. (hereinafter referred to as Clossries).
The award ceremony was moderated by Professor Nakanishi Hotaka, Director of the University's Teikyo Technology Transfer Center, and the certificate was presented to Senior Assistant Professor Takayama by Chairman Yoshihito Okinaga.
This marks the third time that our university has held a ceremony to award this title.
Teikyo University awards the title of "Corporate" to university-based venture companies that are established using the university's research results or human resources.
Senior Assistant Professor Takayama has worked in emergency medical care at the Fire Department and Trauma and Resuscitation Center. Since joining our university, he has continued to expand his field of work, conducting research on emergency medical care and obtaining patents.
In the broad sense of emergency medical care, there are three areas: 1) pre-ambulance care (care provided before the arrival of the fire department's emergency team), 2) pre-hospital care (care provided by the fire department's emergency team), and 3) emergency medical care (emergency medical care provided within the hospital). Clossries is mainly responsible for 1) pre-ambulance care in the field of sports competitions. Clossries has also developed its own rescue model called the "PAC model," which includes preventive education to prevent accidents (Prevention), the establishment of an emergency action plan (EAP) that optimizes the mobilization of rescue staff and the request for an ambulance when an accident occurs (Activation), and appropriate emergency response (Care) until the arrival of the ambulance team.
Recently, due to various factors, the number of requests for ambulances has increased, and it has become a problem that ambulances cannot immediately arrive to treat people who are suddenly ill or injured. However, by improving pre-ambulance care, it will be possible to respond quickly before the ambulance arrives. Pre-ambulance care is particularly important in sports. For example, if an athlete is injured during a competition or a spectator suddenly falls ill, even if an ambulance cannot immediately arrive, having such medical personnel on-site can provide an appropriate initial response in the field of sports competitions. As a university-based venture company, Clossries is expected to continue to contribute to human resource development and the development of emergency medical care by mobilizing student staff.
