The calligraphy club placed 4th as a group at the 29th All Japan High School and University Calligraphy Exhibition, and 4 club members won the grand prize.

On Thursday, July 25, 2024, the results of the 29th All-Japan High School and University Calligraphy Exhibition, which determines the grand prize winner for student calligraphy, were announced, with the Teikyo University Calligraphy Club coming in 4th place in the group university division, and the works of Otobuchi Koko (2nd year, Faculty of Liberal Arts), Sato Yuuki (2nd year Graduate School of Liberal Arts), Kyoda Yujin (2nd year Graduate School of Liberal Arts), and Hiyoshi Rino (1st year, Faculty of Liberal Arts) won the highest award, the Calligraphy Exhibition Grand Prize. This year, there were 8,784 total entries, and only 56 works were awarded the Calligraphy Exhibition Grand Prize, making it a tough competition, but four members of the Calligraphy Club won the award, the highest number ever.
In addition, Sato's work was selected as one of the grand prize winning works and will be exhibited for five days from May 7th to 11th at the Osaka-Kansai Expo to be held in April next year.
In response to this result, Junya Fukui, the head coach of the calligraphy club at our university, commented, "We were just one step away from winning the Outstanding Group Award (top three), but we are very pleased and excited for the result, with four members receiving the grand prize, the highest number ever, and two of those being first- and second-year students. " The club's captain, Mana Kuriyama (3rd year, Faculty of Liberal Arts), expressed her joy at winning the award, saying, "I'm very happy that all the members of the club came together to achieve the wonderful result of coming in fourth place. I'd like to thank the seniors who supported us and all the people involved who supported us."
We appreciate your continued support for the Calligraphy Club.
