Itabashi CampusProfessor Suzuki from Faculty of Medical Technology exhibited at the University Fair 2024 - Innovation Japan

On Thursday, August 22nd and Friday, August 23rd, 2024, Professor Suzuki Koichi of the Department of Clinical Department of Clinical Laboratory Science Science, Faculty of Medical Technology Teikyo University exhibited at the University Fair 2024 - Innovation Japan, held at Tokyo Big Sight (Koto-ku, Tokyo), with the theme "CRADAR-i: An Innovative Nucleic Acid Rapid Diagnostic Method."

This exhibition was organized by the Japan Science and Technology Agency (JST) and is the largest industry-academia matching event in Japan, held annually to promote the results of university research to corporate representatives and widely solicit partners for joint research, etc. Approximately 11,000 people attended over the two days.
The "CRADAR-i Innovative Nucleic Acid Rapid Diagnostic Method" exhibited this time is the result of joint research with Keio University and the National Institute of Advanced Industrial Science and Technology, and is a groundbreaking nucleic acid diagnostic method that enables detection at a lower cost and in a shorter time than the PCR method, which is widely used for nucleic acid identification. The CRADAR-i method is a disposable kit that contains reagents such as enzymes in a dried state and can be stored at room temperature. It does not require laboratory equipment such as pipettes or centrifuges, and can be used easily by anyone anywhere. It is also capable of detecting single base mutations in DNA. These advantages make it applicable to the diagnosis of infectious diseases in developing countries and clinics, the detection of drug-resistant bacteria and DNA mutations, and the rapid diagnosis of genetic abnormalities, as well as the identification of agricultural crop and food varieties and the rapid diagnosis of infectious diseases in animals and plants.

Approximately 100 people visited our booth, asking many questions and discussing the mechanism of the diagnostic kit and its various uses and prospects, and expressing their hopes for joint development. We hope that this exhibition will lead to the development of this research and its implementation in society. Our university will continue to actively develop the intellectual property we hold and give back to society.
