Drug rash is a skin disease caused by taking medicine or its metabolites. Generally, red spots (erythema) and small bumps (papules) appear all over the body, but in severe cases, it can cause not only skin symptoms but also breathing difficulties and impaired liver and kidney function, and in the worst case, it can become a life-threatening severe drug rash. In other words, severe drug rash is a very dangerous disease because, for example, simply taking a painkiller can lead to a life-threatening condition. Current treatments for severe drug rash are mainly symptomatic treatments, aiming to alleviate symptoms, but these treatments come with various risks of side effects.
