Barbell Club students win the 5th Kanto Student Physique Championships

On Saturday, September 21, 2024, the Teikyo University Barbell Club participated in the 5th Kanto Student Physique Championships, held at Fussa Civic Hall (Fussa City, Tokyo). Akiyoshi Yamada (3rd year, Faculty of Liberal Arts) won the under 176 cm class, and Kotaro Sashida (3rd year, Faculty of Economics) came in 4th place in the over 176 cm class, with the team coming in 3rd place. The tournament saw a record-high 140 entries, making it an extremely high-level event with an increased number of participants. However, Yamada and Sashida achieved excellent results, earning them the right to compete in the All-Japan Student Championships.
Additionally, on Sunday, September 22, 2024, six students from the Barbell Club participated in the 64th Kanto Student Bodybuilding Championships, held at Akishima Civic Hall (Akishima City, Tokyo). This was also an extremely high-level competition with over 100 entrants. Although the Barbell Club students narrowly missed out on advancing to the finals, competing in such a high-level competition helped them clarify their individual challenges and gain meaningful experience that will be useful in the future.
