On Monday, September 30, 2024, the results of the Tokyo Metropolitan Government's teacher recruitment examination were announced, and 64 students * enrolled at Hachioji Campus passed.
The Teacher Recruitment Selection Exam is an exam to hire teachers for public schools established by prefectures (or cities in the case of designated cities). By passing this exam, students can become teachers after graduation. Hachioji Campus has established a Teaching Center to support students who want to become teachers, and is taking on many initiatives such as exam preparation. Following the announcement of the results, the center has received many reports of success from students who have put in a lot of effort up until now.
Takui Tominaga (4th year, Faculty of Language Studies), who was accepted into a junior high school (English) and a senior high school (English) in Tokyo, said, "I'm really, really, really happy. Thanks to the teachers at the Teacher Training Center who helped me practice my interviews right up until the exams, I was able to express my thoughts during the actual exams. I only have five months left of university life, but I'm going to prepare well so that I can demonstrate my abilities as a teacher starting next April." He expressed his joy and enthusiasm for his future after graduation. Shunichi Kato (4th year, Faculty of Education), who was accepted into elementary schools in Hokkaido and Miyagi Prefecture in addition to Tokyo, also reflected on his efforts so far and gave advice to his juniors, saying, "When I saw the results, I honestly felt relieved. After passing the first exam, I was worried about whether I would actually pass, but I prepared for the second exam. The secret to passing was getting up early. When I wake up in the morning, I move my body, and my mind and body are refreshed and ready to move, which allows me to concentrate on studying."
Currently, there are successful applicants from 16 municipalities at Hachioji Campus, and the Teacher Training Center is receiving a steady stream of positive feedback. Teikyo University will continue to implement initiatives to support students aiming to become teachers in each department, including the Teacher Training Center.
