On Wednesday, September 25, 2024, at the Teikyo University Hachioji Campus, the seminar of Professor Junichi Shukuwa Department of International Economy Faculty of Economics Teikyo University invited a member of the Customer Service Promotion Department of Mitsubishi UFJ Bank, Ltd. to hold an experiential class on financial education and asset formation. With the importance of financial education being highlighted as a social issue, this class was held with the aim of improving students' financial literacy. As the largest financial institution in Japan, the bank gave a lecture on money management, future-oriented savings, and the need for investment, and the class was conducted in a format that allowed students to experience and understand through practice.

In addition to learning about the importance of managing income and expenditures, such as spending on food, hobbies, and fashion, and how to manage them, the class also provided an opportunity to understand how much money will be needed for the future as we enter an era in which people can live to be 100 years old, through a smartphone app simulation. In group work, to learn how to build assets for the future, students used an app to actually invest points in stocks and virtual currencies, and discussed and presented the reasons each student used to select individual companies and diversify their investments. Students who took the class commented, "It was good to have a practical experience using the app," and "It made me want to study and try it myself," making it a lively program.

This class is a trial implementation of the planned financial education program, and the university plans to expand practical classes for students in the future.
