On Tuesday, January 14, 2025, "Cacao Beauté," a chocolate containing cacao ceramide, a beauty support ingredient derived from cacao, which is the result of joint research between Professor Jinichiro Koga of Faculty of Science and Engineering of Department of Biosciences Engineering, and Meiji Co., Ltd., went on sale at supermarkets, drugstores, and some convenience stores nationwide.
Cacao ceramide is a plant-derived beauty support ingredient extracted from cacao, and ceramide is attracting attention along with collagen and hyaluronic acid. "Cacao Beaute" is a chocolate containing cacao ceramide aimed at those who are conscious about beauty and health. It has also received high praise worldwide as a chocolate, having won the highest award, the Gold Tablet, at the world's largest chocolate festival, Salon du Chocolat Paris 2024.
Cacao contains a much higher amount of ceramide than any other plant known to date, which is expected to reduce the cost of extraction and production significantly. In January 2024, it was made into the world's first material and commercialized, leading to the sale of "Cacao Beaute." This product utilizes the results of joint research with our university, so if you see it, please be sure to pick it up.
