The Sankei Seminar participated in the 6th Chue Marche in collaboration with Hiroshima Shudo University and others.

On Sunday, December 22, 2024, the seminar of Teikyo University's Associate Professor of Faculty of Economics Department of Business Administration participated in the 6th Chue Marche, held in Nakae-cho, Miyajima-cho, Hatsukaichi City, Hiroshima Prefecture. Nakae-cho is located on Miyajima, home to Itsukushima Shrine, and boasts a rich history and traditional streetscape, designated as an Important Preservation District for Groups of Traditional Buildings by the Agency for Cultural Affairs. Chue Marche is an event planned and run by local residents and students who want to revitalize Nakae-cho. It is organized by the Nakae-cho Revitalization Council and held at Miyajima Guesthouse Mikuniya.

Starting in 2022, the Sankei seminar has been collaborating with students participating in the "Miyajima Tourism Revitalization Project - Creating a new Miyajima together with Nakae Town" *, an adopted project of Hiroshima Shudo University's "Community Connection Project," to revitalize Miyajima and Nakae Town. This year, the seminar has been coordinating and preparing to hold a joint market.
As this Marche was held in the latter half of December when the weather gets colder, the students produced and sold warm udon noodles and grilled skewers using gansu, a Hiroshima specialty dish, as well as planning a landscape rally around Nakae Town's photo spots and a kendama experience session, which originated in Hatsukaichi City, and worked hard to create an event where people could experience the history and charm of Hiroshima and Miyajima with all five senses. The event poster was designed by Daichi Taguchi (3rd year, Faculty of Economics), a member of the seminar of Senior Assistant Professor Junichi Owaki, Department of Economics at our Faculty of Economics. On the day of the Marche, all the prepared udon noodles and grilled skewers were sold out, and the students were able to interact with locals and tourists from Japan and abroad, and enjoy smiling faces.

Shiba Michirui (3rd year, Faculty of Economics), project leader of the Sankei Seminar, which implemented this project, commented, "Thanks to the cooperation of many people, including my fellow seminar students and students from Hiroshima Shudo University, we were able to make this a success. Over the course of a year, from planning the Marche to running it on the day, I learned the difficulties of carrying out a project and the importance of working together to see it through." Junya Terasawa of Miyajima Guesthouse Mikuniya, who organized the Marche, said, "Thank you for creating such a warm day. We look forward to seeing you again next year," creating an opportunity to build on hopes for next year. Going forward, our university will continue to strengthen community and Industry-Academia-Government Collaboration, contributing to regional revitalization by connecting our university's knowledge to society and disseminating the results of our education and research to solve mounting social issues.
