On Tuesday, January 7, 2025, Masayuki Hirokawa (4th year, Faculty of Science and Engineering) won the Excellence Award at the Japan Society for Design Engineering Magazine Cover Design Contest.
This contest invited submissions for an original 3D CG design representing JSDE (Japan Society of Design Engineering) using a yellow motif. Of the 20 submissions, unfortunately our design did not win the grand prize, but we did receive an award for excellence.
Hirokawa, who belongs to the Mitsuhashi Iku Laboratory (UX/XR Laboratory) in the Faculty of Science and Engineering of Department of Mechanical and Precision Systems Faculty of Science and Technology, applied for the competition on the recommendation of his supervisor, as he has long enjoyed virtual reality and CG creation as a hobby. Hirokawa's design was created with the concept of creating an interesting and impactful cover design by depicting a robot arm lifting up the letters "JSDE."
