On Sunday, May 11, 2025, the Teikyo University Calligraphy Club performed a calligraphy performance at the Osaka-Kansai Expo "Japanese Calligraphy Connecting to the Future - Beyond the Sky, Sea and Time" (sponsored by the Japan Calligraphy Institute and the Yomiuri Shimbun). Associate Professor Faculty of Liberal Arts Department of Japanese Cultures of Letters, and Calligraphy Club Director, Atsuya Fukui, said, "We have been preparing with the students to give it our all, so please watch over us kindly. The sashes that the students are wearing were donated by the Hachioji Textile Industry Association, and we hope to do our best with the pride of our hometown." In the calligraphy performance, they wrote a message of peace to the world, "Manpoku washin" (Peace and Kindness among Nations) on four panels, and expressed the lyrics to the songs "SAKURA" and "Jupiter." The students who performed commented, "We were nervous on the big stage, but we had a lot of fun," and "We are happy that so many people watched and applauded us. It was a very valuable opportunity."
The exhibition space also featured works by Yuuki Sato (graduated from the Graduate School of Liberal Arts in 2025), who won the Grand Prize at the 29th All Japan High School and University Student Calligraphy Exhibition.
Thank you to everyone who watched and everyone involved.
