On Monday, April 14, 2025, Ms. Kurea Hashizume (Graduate School of Medical Care and Technology 2nd year) received a special award at the International Society for Young Researchers Support Program Awards Japan which is sponsored by the Society for Amblyopia and Strabismus. The Special Prize is an award that aims to foster young researchers who will contribute to the development of amblyopia strabismus research, and supports presentations at academic conferences in Japan and overseas.
Dr. Hashizume studies binocular vision functions such as eye position and eye movement, and in this study, he verified the measurement accuracy of the "CO measure (square wheel)" and existing medical devices, which contains multiple Ophthalmology tests in a pocket-sized format, and showed that the CO measure is as accurate as conventional tests. The results of this research were presented at The Association for Research in Vision and Ophthalmology (ARVO) held in Salt Lake City, USA on May 3 (Sat) ~ 9 (Thu), 2025 under the title "Evaluation of measurement accuracy in ocular deviation using pocket-sized instrument" led to this award. In addition, out of approximately 7,000 abstracts, the top 3%~5% of the abstracts evaluated by the judges received the ARVO Hot Topic Award. After receiving these awards, Mr. Hashizume is expected to play an active role in the future.
