On Friday, June 20, 2025, Teikyo University Faculty of Pharmaceutical Sciences Department of Pharmaceutical Sciences invited Mr. Masahiro Hatori, a pharmacist at Cancer Institute Hospital, who is active on the front lines of cancer treatment, and Ms. Tomoha Hori, a pharmacist managing Suzuken Corporation, a leading pharmaceutical distribution company, as guest speakers to give special lectures in the Life Design Exercise II class at the University. a leading pharmaceutical distribution company.
This class is a required subject for second-year students, and its objectives are to understand the wide range of fields in which pharmacists can be active and their attractiveness, to acquire the ability to study independently to become an ideal pharmacist, and to have a vision for their future career. Based on these objectives, this lecture was planned as part of Support for Career Development for lower grades, aiming to familiarize about 300 students with the work of pharmacists and help them to choose their future career paths.
On the day, the speakers shared their own experiences and talked about the work they do at their respective workplaces, how they interact with patients, and how they are using the knowledge they learned at university in the field. The students said, "I learned about the path of a pharmacist, which I had never imagined, and it broadened my horizons for the future," and "It was a very good experience to hear about specific work and rewarding aspects." Through the lectures, the students gained a deeper understanding of the diverse career paths and social roles of pharmacists, and it was a valuable opportunity to increase their motivation for future learning.
Going forward, our school will continue to work to build a bridge between pharmaceutical education and practice through lectures by practitioners and experiential learning.
