On Tuesday, July 1, 2025, students from the training club at Teikyo University's Hachioji Campus danced to "Shuwashuwa☆Deaflympics!" and filmed a dance video as part of their support for the Tokyo 2025 Deaflympics, the first international multi-sport event to be held in Japan in November 2025.
The purpose of this initiative is to raise awareness of the Deaflympics and promote understanding of sports for people with disabilities. On the day of the shoot, members of the university's Cheerleading Club, as well as the baseball club, Ekiden (Road Relay) Club, karate club, judo club, calligraphy club, and brass band club, performed a vibrant and energetic dance created by Cheerleading Club to the music.
Ami Yoneyama (3rd year, Faculty of Medical Technology), a core member of Cheerleading Club and a member of this activity, commented, "I was surprised at how good everyone who helped out was at dancing. I would like to continue this activity to raise awareness of the Deaflympics and to give people energy."
The dance video was posted on Cheerleading Club 's official Instagram account and will be performed at events both on and off campus in the future. The dance, "Shuwa Shuwa Deaflympics," which the students put their heart and soul into, will help create a society where everyone can enjoy sports. The students are sending their warmest support for the success of the Deaflympics.
