A research group including Professor Sachiko Tsukida of the Teikyo University Advanced Comprehensive Research Organization, Assistant Professor Hiroka Kashiwabara of the same institute, Associate Professor Jun Tamura of the Teikyo University School of Medicine, and Assistant Professor Hiroo Tanaka of the same school (at the time of the research) has revealed, for the first time in the world, the diverse characteristics of the epithelial cell-to-cell barrier function of tight junctions (TJs), which are constructed from each of the 27 types of claudins (Cldn).
The results of this research were published online in the American scientific journal Science Advances at 3:00 a.m. (Japan time) on Saturday, November 1, 2025.
