Emphasis on Practical learning and fostering business people who can play an active role at the forefront of society

Faculty of Economics provides education with an emphasis on "Practical learning". A large number of faculty members who have a proven track record in the field of companies and government will develop classes that closely reflect the current social and economic situation. We will cultivate specialized knowledge and problem-solving abilities while drawing out the students' own willingness to study, and fostering business people who can play an active role at the forefront of society.

Educational Guidelines of the Faculty of Economics

With the progress of globalization and informatization, the Japanese economy is now entering a period of change. In the Faculty of Economics, effective subjects are arranged in a well-balanced manner in order to grasp the economic situation and cultivate problem-solving abilities. We will also offer many special courses for acquiring qualifications. We aim to fostere human resources with interdisciplinary education, specialized knowledge, and a rich international sense.

Specialized courses

From the 2nd year, you will begin to take specialized courses, delve into the specialized areas of each department and systematically study various courses. While expanding your own interests, you will learn more about the subject you are interested in and lay the foundation for exercises, graduation research, and dissertation.

Exercise subject (seminar)

Focusing on the fostering of basic and professional skills of each student, the exercises are arranged as compulsory subjects for the 3rd year. We will forcus on discussions between faculty members and students, presentations by students, questions and answers and exchanges of opinions between students, group work, etc. in the classes, in order to develop the ability to explore issues to tackle various issues.

Reform of the Faculty of Economics to strengthen Practical learning

ECCP (The Faculty of Economics Career Challenge Program)

Target departments: Department of Economics, Department of International Economy, Department of Business Administration, Department of Tourism Management
We provide special education for 2nd and 3rd grade students with excellent academic performance to strengthen their communication skills and leadership in response to the needs of companies and society. We aim to achieve students' goals for the desired course by training various basic abilities such as "logical thinking" and "practical English" in a small group format and improve our ability to respond to social needs.

"Corporate development team" consisting of teachers with business experience

Target departments: Department of Economics, Department of International Economy, Department of Business Administration, Department of Tourism Management
One of the characteristics of the Faculty of Economics is that more than 20% of the faculty members belonging to the faculty are from working graduates. Taking advantage of this, a "corporate development team" was formed by faculty members from practical background. In addition to visiting companies and participating in company information sessions, we actively develop internship recipients and hires.

Open Curriculum

You can study a wide range of academic fields beyond the boundaries of faculties and departments.

Students of the Faculty of Economics; Department of Economics, Department of International Economy, Department of Business Administration and Department of Tourism Management can take some of the specialized education courses offered by other faculties and departments on the Hachioji Campus and at Teikyo University Junior College. Acquired credits are recognized as Common Electives. In principle, students of the Department of Regional Economics can take some of the specialized subjects of other faculties and departments on the Utsunomiya Campus, excluding subjects such as practical training and seminars. Acquired credits are recognized as the credits earned in the department.
