Overview of Division of Japanese Cultures
Professional study a wide range of fields The characteristics of the Division of Japanese Cultures are to offer a wide range of professional studies of fields of Japanese culture. We try to approach from various angles, but the main areas are religion, performing arts, modern society and cultural exchange, music, calligraphy, Japanese, modern literature, and Chinese language culture. By learning these subjects comprehensively and three-dimensionally, students can deepen their fields of study, understand Japanese culture widely, and enrich their specialized research.
Expanded cover fields The fields covered by the Division of Japanese Cultures are gradually expanding, including calligraphy such as "Sanpitsu" and "Sanseki", the three great calligraphers , and entertainment genres such as Kabuki. Students can also learn about modern and contemporary mass media such as movies and publications, which is developing rapidly. Regarding the Japanese language, which is the basis of all of these Japanese cultures, lectures are held by leading experts in the the history and current state analysis research.
Grades will be announced each semester on Campus Square (at the end of the academic year for students taking only year-round courses).

Course and Completion Requirements
Master's Program
About course enrollment
The number of credits required to complete is 30 credits.
The compulsory subjects are advanced theories and exercises of the subject that students major in.
Students are required to take the seminar subject that they major for two years in a row.
Continuous taking in the 1st year and 2nd year is allowed as for advanced theories that student major.
Duplicate enrollment in the same course will receive credits only for advanced theories and exercises of the subject that students major in.
About Completion
When you take the neseccary credits and pass the thesis examination, you will complete.
Doctoral Program
About course enrollment
The number of credits required to complete is 10 credits.
Students are required to take the exercises (2 credits) of their major for 3 years in a row. (Required 6 credits)
Students are required to take advanced theories for the shortfall.
About Completion
When you take the neseccary credits and pass the dissertation examination, you will complete.
Even if the required number of credits is fulfilled, failure to submit or fail to pass the doctoral dissertation will result in dismissal from the program at the end of the term.
(3rd year) If you are graduating from the doctoral program in March, please submit your thesis and other necessary documents to the Graduate Graduate School Office of the Academic Affairs Division by early November.
