The Graduate School of Medicine has been reorganized from 5 majors to 1 major (Division of Medicine). Along with that, we reviewed the curriculum and reorganized five fields and one course in the specialized subjects. In each field or course, the mission is to achieve the purpose of human resource development. We have prepared curriculums in which you can learn a wide variety of research themes in order to meet the demands from society.
Overview of Division of Medicine
The field of Structural and Functional Medicine
It deals with research fields related to the normal structure and function of the body in the conventional basic medical field, and offers five courses: "Cell Histology," "Brain and Neuroscience," "Biochemistry/Clinical Science," and "Biological Material Chemistry." Train researchers in the field.
The field of Basic Pathology
While the field of structural and functional medicine deals with research on the structure and function of normal living organisms, this field deals with research on pathophysiology and pathological structural alterations in pathological conditions in the field of basic medicine. Courses such as diagnostics, neuropharmacology, and control of infection and immunology will be offered to train researchers in these fields. It also includes relatively new fields such as space environment medicine, transplant immunology/tumor immunology, and international infectious disease/crisis management.
The field of Social Health Medicine
We deal with the fields related to Social Medicine and health. In Social Medicine, resercher usually deals with hygiene, public health and forensic medicine. However, we deal with not only the conventional social medicine field, but also developing feild which link medicine and society. Therefore, you can learn subjects such as "Community Medicine" and "Clinical Trials" so the field name has been changed to the field of Social Health Medicine from the field of Social Medicine. We aim to foster researchers in these field.
The field of Organ System Pathology
We deals with the fields related to the academic and medical care system for each organ including internal medicine and surgical science in the conventional clinical medicine. The main subjects are internal medicine and surgical science, including "Pediatrics", "Dermatology", "Otorhinolaryngology", "Ophthalmology" etc. We aim to foster researchers in these field and support for students to acquire qualifications of specialists.
The field of Comprehensive Pathology
Unlike the field of organ system pathology, it is not included in the academic/medical system for each organ/organ system, but transcends the organ/organ system and deals with fields that treat each organ/organ system cross-sectionally. Major subjects include "Psychiatry and Neuroscience", "Rehabilitation Medicine", "Laboratory Medicine", "Anesthesiology", and "Emergency and Disaster Medicine". In addition to training researchers in the same field, we aim to acquire specialists.
Oncologist training course
You will practice cancer medical care that meets diverse needs in collaboration with multiple occupations and local medical facilities. We aim to foster advanced medical human resourses who leads cancer medical care in urban areas.

Palliative Medicine Specialist Training: Palliative Medicine

GPA (Grade Point Average) is a system that evaluates achievements of learning with objective numerical values. This system is generally based on the grade evaluation system based on universities in the United States and Europe.

Completion Requirements
Within the completion period (usually 4 years, 3 years if you have achieved outstanding research achievements), you will have completed 30 credits or more in total of compulsory subjects (I, II), specialized subjects, and common subjects, and will be examined for your dissertation and You must pass the final exam. Details of the completion requirements are as follows.
To complete 4 compulsory subjects I (1 credit each, 4 credits in total).
Select one subject from the specialized subjects as the main subject, and acquire I to III (4 credits each) of the same subject, for a total of 12 credits.
Students must complete at least one sub-subject (specialized subject other than the main subject) and one or more common subjects, for a total of 6 credits or more.
Required Course II (Special Research) To complete 8 credits.
Acquire a total of 30 credits or more from 1 to 4 above, and pass the thesis examination and final examination.
* Students enrolled before 2021 must check the completion requirements for the year of enrollment.
In addition, the following course restrictions will be set for educational considerations.
It is not possible to take more than 8 credits in one grade, including the main and sub-courses.
Students can choose multiple sub-subjects throughout the four years, but they cannot take more than two subjects from the same subject field (I-III). Ex.) "Neuroscience I" and "Neuroscience II" cannot be taken.
In principle, students can register up to two common courses per year. However, students with excellent grades will be allowed to register for two or more courses, with a maximum of 25 credits per year.
