Professor Masaki Sugimoto Okinaga Research Institute was awarded the title of Teikyo University Start-up Company

On Wednesday, October 30, 2024, Teikyo Technology Transfer Center held the fourth Teikyo University Venture Title Award Ceremony at the Teikyo University Itabashi Campus, awarding the fourth title to Holoeyes Inc. (hereinafter referred to as Holoeyes), a venture company originating from the university. The university awards the title of this corporation to university-originated venture companies that are established using the university's intellectual property, research results, or human resources.

Professor Sugimoto, who received this award, is a graduate of our university's School of Medicine, and after graduation he worked as Surgery Teikyo University Hospital Surgery and Teikyo University Chiba Medical Center, before studying abroad in the United States and is currently the Director of the Innovation Lab at our university's Okinaga Research Institute. Leveraging his research and experience to date, Professor Sugimoto founded Holoeyes in 2016 and is currently serving as Representative Director and CEO. The company is one of our university's ventures with a long track record, and its medical support business, which uses cutting-edge technologies such as image analysis and virtual reality (VR), which it developed independently, is already being used as programmable medical equipment in clinical and educational settings across the country.

At the award ceremony, Professor Hodaka Yoshihito Okinaga, Director of the University's Teikyo Technology Transfer Center, moderated the ceremony, and Chairman Yoshifumi Okinaga of the University of Tokyo presented the title to President Professor Sugimoto of Okinaga Research Institute, President of Holoeyes. Chairman Okinaga stated, "It is wonderful that you have been able to make it this far on your own."
Holoeyes continues to grow and is working hard to collaborate with overseas companies and expand its business. We expect to continue to contribute to the development of medical technology using VR technology and expand overseas collaborations.
