Aiming to acquire useful education and practical skills

What is needed now is a skill that will definitely be useful in the real world. Acquiring human culture and modern business studies that meet the needs of the times not only fosters the culture that is essential for living in society, but also develops practical skills for living in the business scene. In addition, many graduates are aiming to go on to each faculty of Teikyo University in order to continue their studies, and we are also working to support for such students.

Three policies of Teikyo University Junior College

In accordance with the founding School Philosophy, the university aims to nuture and help students acquire the culture, knowledge, skills and attitudes necessary for the real world. Also, by utilizing them, the university helps students build their own existence value in society and develop human resources who can contribute to the public. 

Students are required to learn actively broad perspective and knowledge, as well as a willingness and attitude. Before learning the above at University, it is extremely important for students to study a wide range of enthusiastic subjects, which are the basic subjects in high school.

We are looking for new students who have the following abilities and qualities through the above-mentioned studies in high schools.

  1. Students with basic academic abilities and with the motivation to seriously gain knowledge and skills are able to make use of these abilities after enrollment.
  2. Students who can set goals for higher education, employment, study abroad, etc. and work independently to achieve them
  3. Students who are able to face the world without prejudice, have a broad interest in various matters, actively engage with others, and try to understand others with compassion

Department of Human Cultures

Following School Philosophy of founding, the Department of Human Cultures aims to nurture students who have a global perspective, acquire knowledge and skills to understand different cultures, deepen understanding of their own culture, inherit their traditions, develop human resources who can contribute to society widely and make efforts for self-realization by building rich human relationships.

The Department of Human Cultures aims to nurture students who have the ability and a wide range of education to play an active role in a globalized modern society, deepens interest and knowledge about the culture of their 's own country through calligraphy, and cultivates the motivation to inherit and develop traditional culture. Also, the Department helps students build rich human relationships based on psychological understanding, and foster human resources who can independently set goals for employment and advancement, achieve self-realization, and contribute to society. Degree shall be awarded to those who have acquired the following abilities and have completed the prescribed credits.

  1. Students have acquired the basics of English proficiency required in a globalized modern society, as well as a global perspective and understanding of different cultures.
  2. While having a wide range of knowledge about Japanese traditional culture, students can contribute to its succession through calligraphy.
  3. Students learn the basics of research on human society and psychology, and based on that, studetns are able to show empathy and understanding for others in the group.
  4. Studetns learn independently, set their own goals, work on them, and contribute to the public community. In addition, studetns can present their own achievements in a group, and have the basic skills of information processing necessary for that purpose.

In order to acquire the abilities required for the awarding of a degree, the Department of Human Cultures organizes the curriculum according to the following policy.

  1. [Basic literacy subjects] Considering its importance, main compulsory subjects are set. Studying the basics of English proficiency through "English (1st and 2nd year compulsory)" and "English Communication (1st year compulsory)", "Life Design Exercise (1st year compulsory)" and "Basic Exercise (2nd year compulsory)" ) students acquire the ability to set one's own goals and learn independently. In addition, "Information Processing Exercises (1st year compulsory)" will be arranged to acquire the basic skills of information processing required in modern society.
  2. [Cross-cultural understanding / communication subject group] In order for students to acquire a global perspective and understanding of different cultures, "Cross-cultural communication (1st year elective compulsory)" and cultural theories of each country of Britain, the United States and Asia are arranged. In addition, subjects such as "English Communication" and "Theatre and Communication" are arranged to improve communication skills through practical experiences.
  3. [Calligraphy / Art Courses] In order to contribute to the succession of traditional Japanese culture through calligraphy, students study a wide range of topics such as "Introduction to Calligraphy Culture (1st year elective compulsory)" and "Practical skills" and "History" of calligraphy. In addition, the setting is made in consideration of transfer to the Department of Japanese Cultures, Faculty of Liberal Arts, Teikyo University. In addition, "Art and Social Contribution (1st year elective compulsory)" are placed with the aim of acquiring a wide range of education and contributing to the public society.
  4. [Psychology subject group] In order to learn the basics of research on human society and psychology, the Department arranges a wide range of subjects to reach empathy and understanding for others, including "Psychology research practice (1st year elective compulsory)". In addition, the setting is made in consideration of transfer to the Department of Psychology and the Faculty of Education, Faculty of Liberal Arts, Teikyo University.
  5. [Career-related courses] Courses for understanding self-appropriateness, such as "vocational choice", so that students who wish to get a job instead of going on to college when graduating from junior college help students quickly acquire the attitude of setting their own goals and working on them. In addition, practical "SPI measures" that are directly linked to job hunting will be placed.
  6. [Sports subject group] As one course that contribute to the public society, the subjects that should be acquired in order to become a sports instructor are systematically arranged. <Common with the Department of Contemporary Business >

  8. [Teacher License Courses] For Class 2 Junior High School Teachers (English) , the courses required to obtain a teacher's license is set.

The Department of Human Cultures has a global perspective, acquires knowledge and skills to understand different cultures, deepens understanding of its own culture, inherits its traditions, builds rich human relationships, and broadly. We aim to develop human resources who can contribute to society.
For this reason, it is extremely important to study a wide range of basic subjects in high schools, set one's own goals from a broad perspective without prejudice, and actively and sustainably study.
We are looking for new students with the following abilities and qualities through the above-mentioned studies at high schools.

  1. Interested in languages, cultures, and societies at home and abroad, and motivated to develop their knowledge and skills.
  2. Students can set goals such as going on to higher education, getting a job, studying abroad, and acquiring qualifications, and make independent efforts to achieve them.
  3. Students can actively communicate with people and learn in collaboration.

Department of Contemporary Business

In accordance with the School Philosophy, the Department of Contemporary Business aims to develop human resources who can contribute to the business society by cultivating a comprehensive understanding of the business society and the theoretical and practical knowledge and skills required in the business society. 

The Department of Contemporary Business explores the nature and function of the modern business society and trains people who can play an active role in this society. In addition, the Department helps students learn about a wide range of cultural elements that surround economic activities such as business, and trains people who have both education and character. Then, the Department help students open their eyes to the situation inside and outside the country without prejudice, and train students who can see the essence and circumstances of things. In addition, the Department constantly inspire intellectual curiosity and strive for self-development, and train students who are compassionate and respected at the place of employment or going on to higher education. A degree is awarded to those who have acquired the following abilities and have completed the prescribed credits.

  1. Students correctly grasp the modern business society, acquire the ability to write documents, have the basic knowledge of English proficiency required in the field of business, and utilize them.
  2. Students learn various elements related to business organically, and acquire basic business etiquette through off-campus activities in order to facilitate actual business activities and social life.
  3. Students take not only basic subjects but also specialized subjects comprehensively, aiming for an essential understanding of human beings and society, and discover various problems in the business society.
  4. Studetns acquire "“One’s way”", learn independence and enterprising spirit, open-mindness and are always responsible, and are able to act independently in the modern business society.

In order to acquire the abilities required for a degree, the Department of Contemporary Business organizes the curriculum according to the following policy.

  1. [Basic literacy subjects] As compulsory subjects, life design exercises (1st year), basic exercises (2nd year), and business English (1st and 2nd year) will be arranged for small-group education. In addition, "Current affairs exercises (required for the 1st and 2nd year)" to deepen the interest and understanding of current affairs, which are indispensable for employment and transfer to the Faculty of Faculty of Economics, and "Documents" to improve document expression ability. Expression exercises (required for 1st and 2nd year) ”will be placed. In the exercises, we will focus on each ability of sentence expression, presentation, and communication, and also develop problem finding and solving ability. In English courses, acquire practical business English proficiency.
  2. [Courses related to modern business understanding] Courses such as "office management" and "business practice exercises" will be arranged in order to acquire the knowledge and skills required in a complex and diversified business society. In addition, in order to know the forefront of business and understand business as a social entity, many courses such as "fashion business theory", "social business theory", and "hospitality exercise" are offered.
  3. [Course related to economics, business administration, and tourism] The emphasis is on acquiring the basic theories of economics, business administration, and tourism. On top of that, students develop the ability to think about the complex challenges students currently face. In addition, the setting will be made in consideration of transfer to the Faculty of Faculty of Economics, Teikyo University.
  4. [Career-related courses group] Courses such as "Career selection" and "Career design and occupation selection" will be arranged so that students who wish to get a job can set goals at an early stage and engage in job hunting activities. In addition, practical "worker basic skills training exercises" and "SPI" that are directly linked to job hunting will be offered. Furthermore, in order to establish and develop information processing ability, which is important not only for those who want to get a job but also for those who want to transfer, the Department will arrange multiple "information literacy" subjects such as spreadsheets and "information processing" subjects such as programming. 
  5. [Eco Business Courses] Courses necessary to train eco business leaders as human resources who have correct knowledge about the environmental problems facing Japan and the world and the advanced environmental technologies that Japan has, and who lead the environmental business in Japan are arranged . <Common with the Department of Human Cultures >
  6. [Sports subject group] As one course that can contribute to the public society, the subjects that should be acquired in order to become a sports instructor are systematically arranged. <Common with the Department of Human Cultures >
  7. [Teacher license system subject group] For Class 2 junior high school teacher (social), courses required to obtain a teacher license will be arranged.

The Department of Contemporary Business aims to develop human resources who can contribute to society by comprehensively understanding the business society. For this reason, in the Department of Contemporary Business, students will acquire basic theory, practical knowledge and skills related to business, and deeply learn the nature and function of modern business society. This learning requires a broad, unbiased perspective, intellectual curiosity, and the ability to see the essence of things. Therefore, it is extremely important to study a wide range of enthusiastic subjects, which are the basic subjects of high school.
The Department is looking for new students with the following abilities and qualities through the above-mentioned studies at high schools.

  1. Students are aware of becoming a member of the business community.
  2. Students have attitudes of striving to improve humanity by acquiring knowledge and skills that are responsive to the business society.
  3. Students demonstrate their intellectual curiosities and work on the acquisition of Practical learning.
  4. Students can continue to work on their own efforts to acquire a wealth of education and a wide range of knowledge.
