Teikyo University Asia International Infectious Disease Control aims to control infectious diseases in the Asian region by promoting research on respiratory infections, mainly respiratory infections, elucidation of their testing methods, elucidation of the pathogenic mechanism, and development of treatment methods.
The development of intractable inflammatory diseases such as vasculitis can also be triggered by infections. At this institute, we are conducting research by analyzing the relationship between infectious diseases and the onset of vasculitis, focusing on the types of inflammatory cytokines and inflammatory cells that cause inflammation.
The transmission of respiratory tract infections caused by influenza virus and the like is a global threat, and we are conducting research on the selection of candidates for therapeutic agents for severe influenza pneumonia. Among them, we are also researching and reporting on the antiviral activity of existing macrolide antibiotics such as leucomycin A3 (josamycin) and azithromycin.
Candidates for treatment of severe influenza pneumonia: leucomycin A3 (josamycin)
Sugamata R, et al. Leucomycin A3 (LM-A3), a 16membered macrolide antibiotic, inhibits Influenza A virus infection and disease progression. J Antibiot (Tokyo). 2014 Mar; 67 (3): 213-22. Doi: 10.1038 / ja.2013.132. Epub 2014 Feb 5.
Azithromycin showing potential as a candidate for viral treatment
Tran DH, et al. Azithromycin, a 15-membered macrolide 1 antibiotic, inhibits influenza A (H1N1) pdm09 virus infection by interfering with virus internalization process. J Antibiot (Tokyo). 2019; 72: 759-768. Doi: 10.1038 / s41429-019-0204-x. Epub 2019 Jul 12.
Invitation of foreign research students
We are aiming for further development of international joint research by accepting foreign students from the Asian region as Graduate School students and promoting research.
Japan Agency for Medical Research and Development (AMED)
Through the e-ASIA JRP program, we are participating in a joint international research project based on international cooperation among the three countries of Japan, Vietnam, and the Philippines.
[The Sakura Science Plan (SSP) of the Japan Science Promotion Organization invites doctors, nurses, and pharmacists from Asian countries as short-term study abroad programs to exchange technical opinions and exchange internationally.
We also provide on-the-job training on public health, infectious disease control, and infectious disease treatment at medical facilities in the Asian region for students, Graduate School students, and residents who belong to Teikyo University.
This institute publishes research results in various forms in English and Japanese, and contributes to the further progress of research.
The Asia International Institute of Infectious Diseases Control, Teikyo University has made numerous achievements in the field of infectious disease research in the Asian region, and has been aiming to improve research and technology at participating facilities in Vietnam (partly Laos) and the Philippines since 2014. , Promoting infectious diseases related to respiratory diseases. Currently, we are accepting government-sponsored international students (Graduate School of Medicine) from the Ministry of Education, Culture, Sports, Science and Technology to elucidate the molecular mechanism involved in the fulminant mechanism of influenza. In addition, promote international exchange with researchers from the Tuberculosis Research Institute, Kitasato Research Institute, National Institute of Infectious Diseases, National Center for Global Health and Medical Sciences, and Institute of Medical Science, University of Tokyo, outside the Asia International Institute of Infectious Diseases Control, Teikyo University. doing. We are also promoting the Teikyo University ADC Lab Sakura Science Project (TASP) as an international exchange with Asian countries.
Positioned as joint research aimed at improving research and technology at participating facilities in Vietnam and the Philippines, the following three items of training will be provided.
We aim to promote joint research by improving the research and technology of participating facilities from Vietnam, the Philippines and Laos. Research support: Senior Assistant Professor / technical guidance is top class at Asia International Institute of Infectious Diseases Control, Teikyo University, Tuberculosis Research Institute, Kitasato Research Institute, National Infectious Diseases Research Institute, National International Medical Research Center, and Institute of Medical Science, University of Tokyo. Researchers, doctors, and technical staff will support you.
From November 16th to December 4th, 2015, the "Sakura Science Plan", which is a project adopted by JST (Japan Science and Technology Agency), was implemented, and ADC has seven trainees from three countries: Vietnam, the Philippines, and Laos. Was accepted. Seven people who are active in their own countries as researchers visited this training, and lectures on medical safety at the Safety Control Department of Teikyo University Hospital, Round, Central, with the themes of "infectious diseases" and "safety management". We deepened our interaction with our faculty members and students by visiting the inspection department and the pharmacy department, visiting our research facilities, experiencing practical training on the latest virus and bacteria detection techniques, and participating in classes. We also visited the Tuberculosis Research Institute (Kiyose City, Tokyo), which is in collaboration with the ADC Research Institute.
