In addition to hosting, planning and running the "Teikyo University Business Idea Contest," we also sponsor and cooperate in running the hybrid hackathon "Tornado," and send Senior Assistant Professor from companies to undergraduate classes, all of which are carried out in collaboration with faculty and staff at the Itabashi, Kasumigaseki, and Hachioji Campus.
This idea contest aims to foster a mindset and culture in which students are open to new challenges, and has been held at Hachioji Campus since 2021. Finalists selected through a document screening process will work on refining their presentations (at the Hakone Seminar House intensive training camp) and make their final presentation at the final competition. The contest is unique in that it is open to individuals and teams from any faculty, and receives a large number of applications every year.
This is a hybrid hackathon organized by an executive committee mainly consisting of IT companies, and we have been supporting it and helping to run the kickoff event since 2023. Students from all over the country form teams with product owners, designers, and engineers, and each team is assigned a corporate mentor to plan and develop a product over the course of about a month, which they then present at the final presentation. It is a competition in which members who meet for the first time hold repeated discussions to develop a product from scratch, which is then evaluated.
This is a business contest hosted by Teikyo Technology Transfer Center Advanced Comprehensive Research Organization, and we have been supporting its planning and operation since 2024. The contest is open to Graduate School and graduate students, faculty, staff, and alumni from all campuses of our university who are interested in starting a business. Finalists who pass the document and presentation screening process will be awarded a business support grant.
