Teikyo University has implemented a "Research Support Staff Placement System" to assign "research support staff" to researchers who are facing childcare or elderly care responsibilities and are finding it difficult to continue their research activities or find time for research, and to support them in continuing their research. The word "mentor" comes from Mentor, the prince's educator in the epic poem Odysseus, and is translated as "supporter." The center's mentoring system builds a safe and trusting relationship through free dialogue between trained mentors and supported mentees, which reduces and resolves mentees' concerns about career development and leads to diverse career development. I aim to do that.

Overview of the mentor system

The new mentoring system offered by this center starts with building a relationship of trust between mentors and mentors. The problems that individuals face are becoming more diverse, and many cannot be solved by providing information or guidance. The mentor will listen to the problems and concerns that the mentor has, and work with them to concretize and think about the problems. The purpose of this system is to reduce and resolve mentors' concerns about their career development, promote diverse career development through horizontal connections, and build multifaceted relationships by expanding the university network. Mentors will undergo training and are expected to improve their human resource development and management skills by supporting mentors. Mentors who wish to become mentors and receive support from a mentor will be matched with a mentor based on their needs.
