About the entrance examination of the School of Medicine

Number of students to be admitted

School of Medicine admission quota of 119 students includes a provisional quota of nine students approved by the Ministry of Education, Culture, Sports, Science and Technology until the end of 2025. Regarding the handling of the temporary quota for 2026, in addition to applying for approval of the same number of nine students as the temporary quota until 2025, we plan to apply for additional approval. However, as this has not been finalized at this time, details will be announced on the university's website once they have been finalized.

The number of applicants for each examination category is based on the number of applicants. If the pass criteria are not met, the number of successful applicants may not reach the number of applicants.

  • * 1 We implement a public offering system (exclusive application).
  • * 2 The selection of the common test for university admission is conducted only in the first admission.
  • *3 The 77-seat capacity includes one person from the Ibaraki Prefecture special region quota.
  • *4 We plan to apply for approval of nine temporary enrollments to the Ministry of Education, Culture, Sports, Science and Technology this fall. The breakdown of the temporary enrollments is as follows: Fukushima Prefecture special area quota (2 students), Chiba Prefecture special area quota (2 students), Shizuoka Prefecture special area quota (2 students), Ibaraki Prefecture special area quota (1 student), Niigata Prefecture special area quota (1 student), and Gunma Prefecture special area quota (1 student).
  • *5 Under the special regional quota for general selection, we are planning to recruit 2 people for the Fukushima Prefecture Regional Medical Physician Tuition Fund, 2 people for the Chiba Prefecture Physician Tuition Loan Scheme, 2 people for the Shizuoka Prefecture Medical Training Fund, 2 people for the Ibaraki Prefecture Regional Medical Physician Tuition Loan Scheme, 1 person for the Niigata Prefecture Physician Training Tuition Loan Scheme Priority Course, and 1 person for the Gunma Prefecture Emergency Physician Tuition Loan Scheme.

Primary selection

Secondary selection

Only those who pass the first round of selection and apply for the second round of selection will be considered for the 2026 University Entrance Examination, and their pass/fail will be determined based on a comprehensive assessment of their grades in subjects and courses designated by the university, including the total score of the four highest scores in each subject and the results of the first round of selection.

Applicants must meet all of the following requirements and be recommended by a high school or secondary school principal.

  • Applicants must be expected to graduate from high school or secondary school in March 2026 and be able to adapt to six years of medical education, including practical training.
  • Those who have a grade of 4.0 or higher in the entire survey for their grades up to the first semester of the final year of high school or secondary school.
  • Applicants must be able to make a firm commitment to enroll if accepted.

If you meet the standard score for the English qualification/proficiency test specified by our university, you can use the results of an external English test by applying. In the School of School of Medicine 's school recommendation type selection (open application system), the results will be taken into consideration when deciding whether or not to accept students. Benefits for taking the exam for more than two days (first selection only)
If you take the exam for the same faculty/department/course on two or three days per period (I or II), the pass/fail determination will be based on the date on which you receive the highest total score for the three subjects in the subject exam for each exam date.

Selection Process

Primary selection

In the 2026 University Entrance Examination, pass/fail will be determined based on grades in subjects and courses specified by the university.
Three-subject method: Pass/fail will be determined based on the total score of the three highest subjects.
Five-subject method: Pass/fail will be determined based on the total score of the five highest subjects.
For The Common Test for University Admissions selection, application is required for the three-subject method, and applicants can also apply for the five-subject method.

Secondary selection

Only those who pass the first selection will be given an English test (long reading comprehension), a written essay test, and an interview, and the results of the first selection will be used to make a comprehensive decision on whether or not the applicant will be accepted. The interview will be conducted by two faculty members for each applicant, and will last approximately 10 minutes.

  • *4 If you take four or more subjects, the three highest scores will be used to determine your pass/fail status.
