Chromosome construction control laboratory (Yuko Takayama laboratory)
In our laboratory, we are conducting research on "what kind of mechanism is the chromosome maintained stably?". We are focusing on histones and histone variants CENP-A, which are important constituents of chromosomes. We have discovered the histone transcription factor of fission yeast and are currently elucidating the function of the molecule. In addition, we have begun research on transcriptional regulation of histone variants, which has not been reported so far. The laboratory basically conducts experiments every day from 9:00 to 5:00 on weekdays. Through my graduation research, I hope that I will be able to solve problems and think logically. I hope you find the research fun, even if only a little.
