Teikyo University Center for Teaching and Learning
The FD Committee of the Faculty of Education of Education holds "study meetings" several times a year with the aim of improving the qualities and abilities of faculty members who are responsible for educational activities. We are working on the creation of "Inspection / Self-evaluation Report".
In addition, for the purpose of deepening "student understanding" by faculty members, we carry out a "student life survey" for all students of the Faculty of Education every year. Questionnaire items are created with the participation of students, and include question items about the lesson. The survey results are being examined by a faculty member's study group.
In response to the social demand for "sophistication of teacher training", the teacher training courses of the entire university and the teacher training center cooperate with the Teikyo University Graduate School of Teacher Education. Specifically, as a system to make it easier for students to advance to Graduate School school, we are implementing an integrated collaborative program between the undergraduate and Graduate School.
In order to increase the motivation of those who wish to teach, we hold lectures by in-service teachers who have graduated from our university and tour classes at nearby junior high schools and high schools in the "Teaching Practice Practice" class.
In addition, reading is recommended in order to acquire a certain ability as an education expert, and in the class of "teaching profession theory", students have "listening ability", "reading ability", "thinking ability", and "organizing ability" in order to learn by themselves. We are devising ways to acquire the ability to make presentations. As an example, students are working in groups of four to read and discuss materials and write reports on the assignments presented by the teacher during class time.
By allowing teachers to visit each other and share information, we are working to improve the lessons so that each teacher can create high-quality lessons by confirming the students' learning in the lessons.
We encourage students to participate in the training of "Tochigi Educational Future School" held by the Tochigi Prefectural Education Center. Here, you can interact with local teachers and students from other universities aiming for a teaching profession, and by learning with young teachers who are teaching at the actual school site, you can understand the basic matters as a teacher and teach profession. You can increase your passion and sense of mission. There are also small group discussions where faculty members and students learn together.
